Job Description:


The Accounts Payable Specialist assists with the AP process to accomplish the goal that invoices incurred in the course of business are paid on time, accurately, and in accordance with company policy and generally accepted accounting practices. The Accounts Payable Specialist I will assist other AP staff as needed and take on additional projects as assigned.


  • Manage 14 electronic invoice mailboxes efficiently
  • Enter invoices into electronic record workflow for department approvals
  • Set up and maintain vendor files in GP and AvidXchange
  • Request W-9s and contracts from new vendors
  • Maintain vendor records in compliance with internal controls and 1099 requirements
  • Keep records organized within the finance files
  • Assist with other AP duties as needed.

Experience and Skills:


  • High school diploma required, technical school or college courses in accounting a plus
  • One year of office experience desired
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch,
  • Great Plains and/or AvidXchange experience a plus
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • Ability to type 60-65 wpm
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to handle interruptions and special requests in a patient manner
